Wakemans ‘Strictly’ Star Enjoys Dance Success

It’s all about the fun factor for Wakemans’ Finance Director Michelle Woodhall, our very own ‘Strictly’ star, who is enjoying ongoing success as she teaches people of all ages to dance.

Michelle has been involved in the dance world since she was three and a half years old – when her mother was looking for an outlet for a highly energetic child – and competed until 2003.

At this point, Michelle decided she would like to pass on her knowledge and has been helping others to enjoy dance since 2006, after attaining the National Association of Teachers of Dancing Certificate at Associate level.

It means Michelle meets people from all walks of life, who range in age from children as young as five to adults in their sixties, and she has picked up the teacher’s award for helping enthusiastic amateur dancers make it all the way to the final of key competitions.

Several of Michelle’s students shone in Champions of Tomorrow, one of the most prestigious national competitions, held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool back in January. Two of the couples she trains finished fourth in the Over-35 Intermediate Ballroom and Latin and Over 35 Pre-Championship categories, and one couple placed seventh in the Over 35 Beginners competition. Another duo finished fifth in the Ballroom Championship and eighth in the Latin Championship competitions respectively.

As well as delivering Ballroom and Latin American classes in her own right, Michelle is a coach working with Wolverhampton-based Zig Zag Dance Factory. A key member of the team, she is helping to train eight couples aged 10 and under, two Under-12 formation teams and another formation team that competes in the Under-16s age category.

Right now it’s a busy time of the year for Michelle. As well as overseeing accounts for the firm’s half year she is hard at work coaching children for up and coming formation dance competitions, which are held between March and May.
