Wakemans Signs Off as New Chapter Begins at Goodyear Site

Following completion of the final demolition works at the former Goodyear factory in Wolverhampton and site remediation to pave the way for new homes, Wakemans’ involvement in the Goodyear project is concluded. Planning permission has been granted for 230 houses, which will be built by St. Modwen’s award-winning housebuilding division, St. Modwen Homes.

On behalf of regeneration specialist St. Modwen Wakemans acted as Quantity Surveyor and provided Project Management services on this major programme of infrastructure works with a contract value of more than £10 million.

The wider project scope included ground remediation, which required extensive ground water treatment surveys, as well as infrastructure improvements, the construction of new roads and the introduction of services to site.

Wakemans were also tasked with overseeing the development of the £1.6million Goodyear Neighbourhood Park.

The iconic clock tower remains as a feature of the new residential development to acknowledge the Goodyear ‘heritage’ and will undergo extensive refurbishment to restore it to working order.
