Charity Bike Ride Raises £26,000!

There were smiles all round at the end of a marathon bike ride organised by our divisional director Dylan Morris and with good reason – it has netted an almost £26,000 for charity.

Congratulations to Dylan and the 43 friends and colleagues who joined him for the event on June 2, held in memory of his infant son Tomos Wyn.

Setting off from Caernarfon town square, they cycled 80 miles to Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral in a little over five hours.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored Dylan, Tom Hastings and the riders – including the staff at our Birmingham and Bristol offices and some 60+ businesses – and to Gareth Jones, who drove the support vehicle.

Dylan is also grateful to Mark Blackwell of DU Construction Ltd who assisted him in organising the event and took charge of shirt sponsorship, which in itself generated almost £8,000.

The money will be shared between the Ronald McDonald Houses at Arrowe Park Hospital and Liverpool’s Alder Hey Hospital, which gave Dylan and his wife invaluable support while their premature baby son was undergoing treatment.

The cyclists are pictured at the cheque presentation at Arrowe Park Ronald McDonald House.

Typically, it costs £25 per day for families to stay in a Ronald McDonald House. The funds raised by Dylan’s charity bike ride will therefore make a huge difference, relieving parents who use the facilities of some of the financial strains that can occur while their child is receiving potentially prolonged and complex treatment and promoting better communication with the medical teams.
