The Wakemans Acre
Wakemans has worked on a number of projects in recent years to deliver buildings that are environmentally friendly, incorporating sustainable materials and low energy installations. The importance of this work is becoming more and more evident as government and commerce strive to reduce the impact of modern day living and working on the environment.
Equally Wakemans business is evolving to incorporate wherever possible environmental measures within its projects and currently offers a package of sustainability services provided by Wakeman Harris which includes advice on property related sustainability issues incorporating recommendations to achieve BREEAM rated projects and efficient energy performance and assessments.
Wakemans are particularly interested in the government initiative to progress the Forestry Commission recommendation to plant 23,000 hectares of new trees per year to cover an extra 4% of the UK. The recommendation has been promoted to help reduce the impact of climate change.
As a small gesture towards a greener future Wakemans made a donation to the Woodland Trust and dedicated a quarter acre of woodland in Wassell Wood, Trimpley. We hope to increase our contribution to the woodland and its positive impact over the coming years, and encourage others to follow in our footsteps and make a gesture towards helping sustain our environment.

England's Trees Woods and Forests (ETWF) Delivery Plan 2008-2012
... By 2020 more woods will be brought into sustainable woodland management supplying raw materials for use in construction and for woodfuel, and we will have a healthier landscape for wildlife and an increase in people visiting woodlands. For the first time the Strategy covers the full spectrum - from extensive forests to street trees and hedgerows. This brings new challenges, but also new opportunities to ensure that trees enhance more people's lives.
