News - Wakemans Completes on Kew Travelodge

National property consultancy Wakemans has completed work on the redevelopment of the Travelodge at Kew Bridge, which now features the budget hotel chain’s new look room design and a Bar Café.
Wakemans advised on the fitting out of the shell for the Bar Café, Travelodge’s own brand contemporary bar serving breakfast plus light snacks and meals.
Work was carried out by contractor George & Harding in just ten weeks, while the hotel remained open to the public.
The Bar Café has a red, white and brown colour scheme and incorporates three separate areas – a ‘chill-out lounge’, a smart dining area and a contemporary bar.
“Travelodge is looking to attract visitors in the run up to the London Olympics and by 2012 aims to open 20,000 of the new look bedrooms, which represent the first major design change since the company’s inception in 1985,” says Wakemans Associate Director Nigel Himpson.
“The Bar Café at the Kew Travelodge is one of a number of such restaurants in a pilot scheme designed to update Travelodge’s food and drink offering and, if successful, will be rolled out throughout the country.”
Travelodge is the UK’s number one budget hotel brand for business and leisure users and this year is scheduled to open a further 40 hotels in city centre, edge of town and airport locations.
Wakemans is currently on site with ten Travelodge projects, with a further 40 in the pipeline.
