West Midlands Police has appointed national property and construction consultancy Wakemans on three office refurbishment/reorganisation projects of a substantial nature in central Birmingham, each of which is designed to improve the working environment and maximise efficiency.
Wakemans is acting as quantity surveyor on a phased substantial development which will see key functions relocated and new functions introduced on the first, second and third floors of an important police office building. The works will include new partitioning and mechanical and electrical installations plus general building works.
West Midlands Police is also reconfiguring and refurbishing the offices at a major police headquarters building and has appointed Wakemans as quantity surveyor and CDM co-ordinator. The refurbishment project will incorporate new air conditioning and mechanical and electrical installations together with a major renovation.
The third refurbishment scheme carried out in two stages, involves replacing six flat roofs and a series of windows and here Wakemans is taking on the role of building surveyor.
"Through these office refurbishment schemes West Midlands Police will improve the working environment for officers and staff while also configuring the layout to ensure all facilities are used are to maximum effect," says Wakemans director of client services James Shelley.
"Having previously carried out an assessment of costings for the reorganisation of some of the force's occupational command units, we are delighted to have the opportunity to further develop our relationship with West Midlands Police."
