National property and construction consultancy Wakemans has strengthened its building surveying team with the appointment of Gordon Harrow as senior building surveyor.
Gordon, 50, holds the Diploma in Building Surveying and joins Wakemans after working with several other Birmingham practices where he was involved in supermarket refurbishments and new build public houses. He also took on project management responsibilities, which led to secondments with Tesco and Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries.
Earlier in his career Gordon spent two years in a building surveying consultancy role and four years with a housing association, where he supervised a new build housing programme and carried out disability access and stock refurbishment work.
Gordon was attracted to Wakemans because of the variety of work they handle and is currently working on public house projects plus the refurbishment of ground floor shops at a Manchester office development, as well as supporting the Travelodge key account team.
Wakemans Chief Executive David Howles says: “We are delighted to welcome someone of Gordon’s calibre to our building surveying team. In addition to working on a wide variety of industrial, retail and commercial schemes, he will take the lead role in identifying new opportunities to help us grow this key area of our business.”
Gordon lives in Wolverhampton and is married with two daughters.
Wakemans has also appointed a new senior quantity surveyor and project manager to look after clients’ interests in the South West. Tony Hooper is based at the firm’s Bristol office and will develop new business opportunities in the region as well as support the St. Modwen and Travelodge key account teams.
