News - Wakemans Awarded NHS Framework Agreement

National property and construction consultancy Wakemans has strengthened its expertise in the health sector with a new three-year Framework Agreement for University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.  UHCW is responsible for providing NHS Services for a number of trusts in the West Midlands.

Wakemans is one of six consultancies that have been appointed to fulfil the role of quantity surveyor advising on a variety of new developments, refurbishment projects and extensions to hospitals, health centres and GP surgeries.

Under the Framework Agreement, Wakemans is now a preferred supplier on the approved lists used by a number of NHS Trusts in Coventry and Warwickshire.

“We have  worked with University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust for the past three years, so are delighted to be awarded this new Framework Agreement, which recognises the value and range of services we can deliver to meet the specific requirements of the NHS,” says managing director John Woodhall.

Wakemans can call on considerable NHS project experience, having overseen the relocation of the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital NHS Trust’s £3.2m eye infirmary from Chapel Ash to a purpose-built facility at New Cross Hospital.  On the back of this work the firm was appointed on the Trust’s £800,000 renal unit – where it took the role of quantity surveyor, contract administrator and CDM co-ordinator – and then advised on the reorganisation and upgrading of the Trust’s maternity unit and the provision of disinfection facilities at the main New Cross Hospital site.

Also, Wakemans has acquired the Quinton-based practice of Allsebrook & Hadley, which specialises in this field.  It has developed strong relationships with a variety of organisations providing specialist care, including Options Group and Guildcare, and is currently working on BID Services with Deaf People’s new £3m headquarters building in Ladywood, Birmingham.

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is responsible for two Hospital Trusts, including the flagship £400m University Hospital in Coventry, which opened on the site of the old Walsgrave Hospital two years ago and is one of the biggest in Europe.  There are plans to expand the Hospital of St. Cross in Rugby and consultations are currently underway with all stakeholders regarding the new health centre in Camp Hill.
