National property and construction consultancy Wakemans were commissioned to undertake all pre-contract work on Travelodge’s new 110-room hotel in Bournemouth.
Wakemans determined the specification and construction programmes plus the construction element of the legal documentation for the £8m hotel, which is a conversion of the former Tralee Hotel dating from the 1930s. The redevelopment included an extension to provide four high quality rooftop apartments.
The fact that the rooms were non-standard in size and layout meant that Wakemans had to review each one individually in order to plan the new 110 room configuration.
“This new Travelodge occupies a prime position adjacent to Bournemouth International Conference Centre and complements the existing 107-room hotel and Bar Café located on the other side of town at West Cliff,” says Wakemans associate director Nigel Himpson.
“Travelodge has expressed its commitment to opening hotels in seaside locations and its investment in a second hotel, and keenness to develop a third, is testament to the importance of the Bournemouth marketplace.” More News
