News - Wakemans Strengthens Board of Directors

National property and construction consultancy Wakemans has strengthened its board of Directors by promoting three key individuals who have made significant contributions to its business success.
Seinde Balogun, Shaun Baugh and Dean Watson were previously regional directors of the firm and have over 60 years combined experience at Wakemans between them.
Dean, 42, has spent his entire career with Wakemans, having joined the firm as a trainee surveyor in 1984 after finishing his A Levels.  He went on to gain a BSc degree and become a qualified quantity surveyor and project manager, working on hospital projects and land remediation as well as the full spectrum of commercial schemes.  Dean is key account director for several clients, including St. Modwen and Rugby Investments.
“Shaun, Seinde and I have had an input into the running of the business for some time now, but this is an exciting development because as a director and shareholder I will have both a bigger influence in, and greater responsibility for, determining the firm’s future direction,” he says.
Thirty-eight year old Shaun Baugh specialises in the leisure sector and is the key account director for Travelodge, managing a team of 12 surveyors.  He joined Wakemans from school in 1987, studying part time with the Birmingham City University (then UCE) for his BSc Honours degree and becoming a member of the RICS in 1995.
Shaun, who was promoted to regional director in 2002, says, “I'm delighted to be joining the main board.  While in some respects this appointment formalises some of the responsibilities I've been carrying out for the past few years, it gives me a definitive say in where Wakemans goes from here and how we set about achieving our long term goals.”
Wakemans recruited Seinde Balogun, 49, as a senior surveyor in 1989.  He had previously worked for another Birmingham quantity surveyor and also spent two years in Lagos, Nigeria, with a French multi-national construction company.  Seinde has recently been responsible for standardising the service provision throughout the organisation.  This has enhanced Wakemans’ reputation for professionalism and helped it gain repeat business and win new clients.
“I'm very much involved in the management of projects on a daily basis, providing quantity surveying, building surveying and insolvency support services to our varied client base but, as a director, my main focus will be to create new opportunities to drive the business forward,” says Seinde.
Wakemans chief executive David Howles says:   “Wakemans are delighted to welcome Shaun, Seinde and Dean to the Board, they have all been instrumental in the success of the company over recent years.
We have restructured the business to provide a springboard for continued growth and success over the coming years and believe that their professionalism, experience and commitment to the Company and its objectives will be a decisive factor in this – The Board wish them all well for their future with Wakemans.”
