News - Wakemans Appoints New Project Manager

National property consultancy Wakemans has strengthened its project management team with the appointment of Michael Welton as a senior project manager.
Michael, who is a Fellow of the RICS, joins the substantial Wakemans team that works with Travelodge and its other consultants to take property deals up to unconditional exchange, both for developer-led and forward funded schemes.   When the deals reach this stage, the projects are handed over to colleagues in Wakemans’ post-contract team.
Michael has extensive expertise is in commercial project management.  During 15 years with Zurich Insurance he took charge of the refitting and refurbishing of Zurich’s UK premises, plus some new build developments up to £50m in value.  He also spent eight years with Town and Country Building Society – acquired by Woolwich Building Society in 1992 and now part of Barclays Bank – where he oversaw the refurbishment of branches around the country.
“Wakemans has a superb reputation for quality of service and delivering on client’s expectations, so I am delighted to be joining such a professional team,” says Michael.
Wakemans is Travelodge’s preferred outsource project manager for all pre-contract work and a member of the hotel group’s extended development team.   It is also a preferred supplier to Travelodge for post-contract work.
Michael lives in Evesham and is married with four children and five grandchildren.  While he spends most of his spare time with his family, Michael also enjoys motor racing – these days as a spectator, although he used to take part in rallying – and cheered on his son who completed the Iron Man triathlon in Devon last month.
